I am a burrowing owl that really freaked out a couple of Million Mile May commuters the other day as I watched them ride by. I was perched on top of a bush at a distance of about 10 feet from the bike trail at about their knee level. My eyes followed them as they passed. It's so nice to read about people getting the bike bug in Sacramento. It's a great place with great weather and terrain for riding.

I'm a Brit, but I spent the late 90s working as a software developer in Rancho Cordova. I got into cycling just by accident. I have a mountain bike, and in a moment of madness, signed up to do the Leadville Trail 100 mountain bike race out in Colorado.

My satisfaction in reaching a goal of 400 miles has been surpased by the celebration with all the riders who helped Sacramento reach a million miles in May! The publicity is great for cycling but the I-5 closures will do even more to make transportation planners, the public, and politicians realize that we need to do much more to make commuter cycling a really safe alternative for more ...
